Abstract:
This session will describe the use of aggregation, a virtualization technique for HPC environments. Aggregation reduces the number of managed systems, and provides large shared-memory systems at industry-standard cluster pricing, delivering better utilization compared to clusters and significant cost advantages over SMP systems. The session will detail how aggregation provides improved utilization (reduction of data center fragmentation), increases available memory via resource consolidation (single OS image across multiple systems), as well as optimizes the infrastructure (reducing the number of managed entities). Attendees will learn from this session how their complex, multi-vendor environments can take advantage of this leading-edge technology.
