The long awaited OpenMP 3.0 standard became official in May 2008. The ability to generate unstructured work using the tasking extensions is the most important change to OpenMP since its inception in 1997. In this BOF, members of the OpenMP language committee will give a brief overview of the new standard, including the three greatest things about OpenMP 3.0, the three most important things left out of OpenMP 3.0, and what we hope to accomplish in 2009. In addition, a panel discussion on the future of OpenMP will provide ample opportunity for questions and audience participation.
