Abstract:
The quantity and quality of high performance computing resources available for scientific research and education is growing exponentially. Exploiting the explosion in computing power poses opportunities and challenges. Faculty and staff at many institutions who are engaging in critical scientific research are unaware of the vast resources available to them "free" via funding from the NSF. This BoF invites people from all disciplines and organizations to discuss ways to engage faculty and staff, ways to disseminate information about available resources, and ways to assist faculty and staff in the use of available resources. We will talk about the new TeraGrid Campus Champions program, which is intended to identify and support campus representatives who are the local source of knowledge about high-performance computing resources, services and opportunities to engage. Campus level knowledge and assistance will empower significantly larger numbers of researchers and educators to advance scientific discovery.
