SC Conference - Activity DetailsTools for High Productivity Supercomputing Primary Session Leader:
Allen Malony
(University of Oregon)
Secondary Session Leaders:
Three major projects are addressing the problems of scalability and ease of use for debugging and performance analysis tools for large-scale computing systems. The POINT (Productivity from Open Integrated Tools) project is building an extensible performance tools infrastructure, based on the PAPI, TAU, PerfSuite, and Scalasca tools, for the NSF supercomputing centers. The VI-HPS (Virtual Institute for High-Productivity Supercomputing) project is developing an integrated suite of debugging and performance analysis tools, based on PAPI, Scalasca, Marmot, and Vampir. Both projects have substantial application outreach and training components. Session leader David Skinner also has an NSF-funded tools project for the IPM tool and he is the lead for the SciDAC Outreach Center. There are few forums where users can discuss their productivity needs with tool developers. By soliciting input from users, this BOF will provide participants the opportunity to influence the direction of future HPC tool environments.
