SC Conference - Activity DetailsDCMF: Lightweight Communication for Petascale Supercomputing Primary Session Leader:
Michael A. Blocksome
(IBM Corporation)
Secondary Session Leaders:
The Deep Computing Messaging Framework (DCMF) is a new open source community (http://dcmf.anl-external.org/wiki) and high performance communication interface for petascale computing. It is used as the communication layer of Blue Gene/P and has been extended to other networks and platforms such as TCP/IP sockets and Infiniband. The framework allows for many potential areas for optimization, extension, and research into communication performance.
There are several DCMF-related projects going on at multiple institutions and we are hoping to spark additional interest in DCMF. Representatives from IBM (BG/P), Argonne National Labs (MPICH2, ZeptoOS), Pacific Northwest National Labs (Global Arrays), Berkeley University (UPC, GASNet), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Charm++) will present an overview of their projects.
This BoF session will begin with an overview of the DCMF API and provide a forum for current and potential users of DCMF to discuss experiences, issues, and suggestions for the future direction of the community.
