Unleash Your Creativity in SC08 HPC Storage Challenge
Is high performance computing (HPC) storage your strength and passion?
The SC08 HPC Storage Challenge provides the ultimate opportunity to showcase your expertise and innovation in HPC storage. If you've devised a novel way to solve traditional and/or difficult problems, want to discuss effective use of new technologies and a well-designed application, or to share your best practices, this Challenge is for you.
The HPC Storage Challenge is being held in conjunction with SC08, the international conference of high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis to be held Nov. 15-21 in Austin, Texas.
The competition showcases applications that effectively utilize the storage subsystem, which is often the limiting system component. Participants describe their implementations and present measurements of performance, scalability, and storage subsystem utilization. Judging will be based on these measurements, as well as innovation and effectiveness.
Participating teams are required to submit their project proposals by July 31, 2008 via the submission website (http://submissions.supercomputing.org/). Judges will use the proposals to select finalists, who will be notified by August 18. Teams are encouraged to include results from proof-of-concept tests or works in progress to lend credibility to assertions made in their project proposal. A report in the form of a PDF file (maximum 12 pages) must be included as part of the submission.
Finalist teams may continue working on their challenge projects after submitting their project proposal until the final project report is due November 10, 2008. During the conference, finalist teams will deliver a technical session presentation that will be part of the Storage Challenge judging. They will also participate in a private follow-up interview with the committee. Titles, abstracts and team member names will be posted in the conference program, and the winners will be announced at the conference awards session.
